After more than 25 years in production and having exhausted just
about every other marketing idea to generate more sales, Austin Rover increasingly brought out special edition Mini models with limited production runs. In the mid 1980s, this included the Mini Chelsea, Mini Mayfair, Mini Park Lane and Mini Piccadilly, with all having their own unique decals, colour schemes and other superficial changes. The Mini Piccadilly had a production run of 2500 and the company were confident that with the right upbeat marketing, it was a target they could easily reach
